Hi, my first post ;)  Are Kohler command single cyl engines used much? I've built several singles for garden tractor pulling & am looking into other areas where these engines are used. So far, in the pulling sport, they arent used much but can & do produce very good hp & broad power bands without alot of $$ spent & just factory parts unaltered.  Thanks,Kyle

Have not seen any at the track myself but why not. I believe there are just more aftermarket parts available for the briggs engines. I know the indian motors are becoming more popular, we have a couple of those running now.

last stocker single 16hp I built from just factory unaltered parts produced 23.4hp & 33ft lbs tq governed at 3800rpm. Cant do any machining of the valves, cam, crank etc which really ties a guys hands when he wants to open it up. I do have roller rockers that fit right under the factory cover for one I'm building now to run open rpm, stainless backcut valves, mild port work, block decked .050.  Have been looking around for a  billet rod but so far it looks like I'll have to have someone make a few, grrrr that means big $$$$

Found MWSC & Lakota Racing have aluminum flywheels, billet rods, roller cam specs etc for these engines. My new build is going to change now & a vert engine is in the works too;)
